Perth Music Pro Wins Trip to South by Southwest

She was one of 85 Early-Early Bird registrants for the AustralAsian Music Business Conference who had the opportunity to answer two simple questions. Even though her entry was last minute, Ali McLean of Mellen Events in Perth won a roundtrip airfare to South by Southwest Music, Film & Interactive Festivals and a VIP Platinum pass to all three events. On top of that, she was given a free position on the SoundsAustralia stand during the Music Trade Fair and will have to put up with Phil Tripp for a Mexican dinner. Total value $4000!

The two questions Ali answered were easy: Who's the official SxSW travel agent? (Brad Thomas of The Travel Managers who contributed the $2500 Perth to Austin return airfare with stopover in Los Angeles) and in 50 words or less, give a compelling reason why she should win the prize over the other 84 entrants.

Her answer? "I aim to establish a touring festival featuring international and Australian artists that tours throughout AustralAsia. I have a BA Asian Studies and BA Arts Management plus speak Japanese and Indonesian. SXSW will allow me to network with festival promoters through Asia & be across breaking artists."
