FOUR NEW ACTS FOR PLAYGROUND WEEKENDER
Four bands have been added to the Playground Weekender line-up on community radio station FBi’s stage.
Sydney outfits Sleepyhands, V E E N, Winter People and The Fabergettes have won the opportunity through the station’s Shack competition, which the station claims they received “hundreds” of entries for.
BALL PARK MUSIC JOIN GTM AFTER INTERNATIONAL CANCELLATION
Groovin The Moo organisers have made an amendment to their line-up this morning, with internationals Chiddy Bang pulling out and Brisbane’s Ball Park Music added to the bill.
A press release read, “Unfortunately they have chosen to cancel their Australian commitments preferring to focus on new TV and radio promotional opportunities for their upcoming album in the USA.”
BLUEJUICE ANNOUNCE NATIONAL TOUR
Crafty rockers Bluejuice have announced their first National tour on the back of their third album Company.
The band has had a stellar year, with the album adding to their canon of fun-loving pop-rock. They also performed at this year’s Big Day Out, with capacity crowds to each of their sets.
SVEN VATH FUTURE SIDESHOW ANNOUNCED
Future Music Festival have announced legendary DJ Sven Vath, along with artists Dubfire and Jamie Jones, will play at the Metro Theatre, Sydney on March 9.
The gig marks the third consecutive year that Vath has played at the Metro the night before the much hyped festival.
SECOND APOLLO LINEUP ANNOUNCED
Organisers of the annual Apollo Bay Music Festival have revealed the second round of bands to be added to the April event.
The latest additions includes live local favourites The Vasco Era and The Snowdroppers plus buzz hip hop artist Grey Ghost.
SOUNDWAVE ADD LOCAL BANDS
The winners of the Soundwave triple j Unearthed competition have been announced.
Local acts will be added to the Soundwave bill in each state, giving bands the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Marilyn Manson, System Of A Down and Slipknot.
ROGER DALTREY CANCELS BLUESFEST & TOUR
The Who’s Roger Daltrey has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour, including his headline slot at Bluesfest.
Daltrey topped the festival’s first announcement last year and had been slated to perform at the festival Monday 9 April.
SPLENDOUR RETURNS TO OLD BYRON BAY LOCATION
Splendour In The Grass have announced this morning that they’re moving back to Byron Bay – but not the new Parkland’s they’ve been pushing for.
The festival – which didn’t sell out last year – has been held in Queensland’s Woodfordia for the last two years but organisers announced today it would return to Byron’s Belongil Fields, where it was held previous to the Queensland move.

GROOVIN THE MOO
Hilltop Hoods, Kaiser Chiefs, Public Enemy, Kimbra and 360 have all been announced on the first line-up for the Groovin The Moo festival this year.
One of the nation’s largest boutique regional festivals, Groovin The Moo have programmed ten international artists this year – a record for them.
BOOGIE ADD MY MORNING JACKET'S JIM JAMES
US indie rocker Jim James, of My Morning Jacket, has been announced as an addition to the sixth annual Boogie festival.
Organisers also announced that Perth psych jammers Pond have had to cancel their spot on the bill due to “a USA tour opportunity they have been offered”.
BLACK VEIL BRIDES ANNOUNCE SIDESHOWS
Black Veil Brides have announced that they’ll be bringing their punk swagger to Sydney and Melbourne for two sidewave shows, as part of their tour on the national Soundwave Festival. The two date tour will see them at Sydney’s The Wall on February 28 and The Thornbury Theatre in Melbourne on March 1.

PAUL VAN DYK ANNOUNCES EVOLUTION STAGE
Germany’s Paul van Dyk is returning to Australian shores after a five-year absence to present his very own Evolution stage at the 2012 Future Music Festival.
Trance fans were in awe when he debuted his new Evolution show at Coachella in April, with the integrated audio-visual production being the result of intensive development.
With his new album being released in March 2012 – just in time for the festival – fans are in for one of the biggest dance debuts in recent years. For some idea of what we can expect, van Dyk stated in an interview with Chinashop that “it always feels together, and the light design features the visual design, and the stage design is incorporated with the video and lights. It’s all quite complex, but it’s really exciting”.

In a packaged announcement today, Bluesfest have announced a slew of sideshows from artists on their mammoth line-up for 2012.

UNDEROATH, DREAM ON DREAMER SIDEWAVES
Underoath have evolved and thrived during a decade-long progression, and their latest album Ø (Disambiguation) continues their artistic rebirth, surpassing their previous work in compelling, ambitious heavy music.
Already in town for Soundwave, they’ll be playing a couple of sideshows. They’ll be joined by Australian success story, Dream On, Dreamer who signed to influential US powerhouse Rise Records and released a stellar debut record with Heartbound.
APHEX TWIN LIVE SIDESHOWS
Aphex Twin, the mysterious ambient mastermind behind Windowlicker and countless other tunes, is playing two extremely special and rare sideshows as part of the Future Music Festival tour.
Not seen on Australian shores since 2004 and known to shun the spotlight, the long awaited reappearance of his live show has been highly anticipated and is bound to thrill fans. One of the most influential electronic artists in the history of contemporary dance music, Aphex Twin aka Richard David James has been twisting minds since his debut EP Analogue Bubblebath back in 1991. Covering terrain from ambient to acid, techno and noise, he’ll be supported by Mark Pritchard for these two special dates.
DIE ANTWOORD SIDESHOWS
No strangers to controversy, Die Antwoord will be returning to Australia with their crazy antics and Zef charm. Ninja, Yo Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi Tek will all be in town for the Future Music Festival national tour, and have now announced some special sideshows too.
A blistering trio of rap-ravers that get the party started, they’re the band behind songs like Beat Boy, Rich Bitch and Enter The Ninja. Having recently started their own record label, they’ve got a new album Ten$ion out in February, and they’re bound to play some brand new tracks when they hit the stages in Australia.
FOGERTY TO DO CCR SIDESHOWS
Legendary rocker John Fogerty has confirmed an unprecedented series of live shows in Australia this March/April, as sideshows to his Bluesfest and West Coast festival appearances.
Looking Out My Back Door: John Fogerty Performs Live! The Albums Of Creedence Clearwater Revival will see Fogerty performing classic albums Green River and Cosmo’s Factory in their entirety.
UK FESTIVAL BOOKER FED UP WITH "LAZY" PROMOTERS
British promoter Chris Wareing says promoters are getting lazy, and is wary of those who cite hip hop acts as particularly difficult.
Wareing, who will be speaking at Adelaide’s FUSE Music Business Conference, is part of UK promoting group Mean Fiddler, while also working booking other events like The Great Escape.
SHIR MADNESS ANNOUNCE LINEUP
Shir Madness, the Sydney Jewish Music Festival, has announced its full 2012 lineup, with Israel’s top pop artist Mosh Ben Ari, Australian music icon Deborah Conway, Old Man River plus Sydney’s own Tim Freedman leading the impressive list of musicians headlining the event that runs all day and night on five stages at Bondi Beach on Sunday 25 March.
